Local Trails for Plant Viewing

The Sanhedrin area, comprised of inland Mendocino and Lake Counties, has a variety of diverse landscapes and plant communities that call this place home. Below is a list of parks and trails in the Sanhedrin area that offer excellent spring wildflower viewing and year-round enjoyment.

Mendocino County:

  • Brooktrails Township open space trails, northwest of Willits

  • Lake Mendocino trails, Ukiah (trails start at Coyote Dam, the end of Deerwood Drive, or the Bushay area off Hwy. 20)

  • Little Darby Environmental Education Area and Nature Trail, BLM land east of Willits

  • Low Gap Park, west of Ukiah

  • Mill Creek Park, Valley View and Ridge trails, east of Ukiah

  • Montgomery Woods, west of Ukiah

Other nearby scenic trails:

  • Lake Sonoma trails from the Little Flat Trailhead, Geyserville

  • Porterfield Creek Preserve, Cloverdale
